We haven't used this as a toothbrush but a teether and to get our daughter use to the bristles when she starts to need a tooth brush. She's had this from 4mos and she's now almost 8mos. She loves this thing. All the other babies in daycare have passys with their name on it, she has one of these. We had to buy a second one to leave at daycare, cause when she gets fussy they give this banana to her and it calms her down. It's easy for her to hold and she likes chewing on both the bristles end and the nubby end. I like that it has the bristles end cause we rub her gums with it, and her one little tooth, to get her use to the tooth brush concept when it's time to start the toothbrush routine. We have not had any trouble with bristles falling off, but we also don't use it like you would a toothbrush, we use it primarily as teething only.
